Chemical Warehouse Operator
The Chemical Warehouse Operator handles the receiving and warehousing of chemicals, sampling, storage, and waste operations. Some of the responsibilities will require forklift operation as well as safely handling large volumes of flammable, corrosive and sometimes toxic or poisonous raw materials. The Chemical Warehouse Operator will be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and all warehouse processes are running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process chemicals from carriers for the Chemical Department.
- Identify sampling, labeling, and staging operations for raw materials.
- Perform all work in compliance with the company’s quality system, FDA good manufacturing practices, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
- Unload bulk solvents and monitor Bulk Storage Tank Farm.
- Enter data from chemical and propellant receipts into computer and submit documentation to Lab and Accounting Depts.
- Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system.
- Stage and pre-weigh chemicals based upon schedule.
- De-stage chemicals no longer needed for batching.
- Manage chemical storage in compliance with company’s policies and vision.
- Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization.
- Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements.
- Manage waste storage and handling.
- Maintain standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.
- Respond to feedback and monitor the quality of services provided.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with strong work ethic.
- Attention to detail.
- Safe forklift operation history and follows all safety guidelines.
- Packaging and shipping bulk products when needed.
- Ability to lift and move chemicals weighing up to 60 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to roll chemical drums weighing up to 600 pounds.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to follow directions with urgency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in chemical handling
Minimum of 2-5 years of forklift driving experience
Able to work effectively in a team environment
